  • Are microgreens and sprouts the same thing?
Nope! Sprouts are germinated seeds grown in water and eaten whole- including the seed, root and shoot. Microgreens are grown in soil and only the stems and leaves are harvested to eat just before they reach their true leaf stage.
  • What are microgreens?
Microgreens are young, edible seedlings of vegetables and herbs that are harvested usually within 7-21 days of germination. They have the full flavor of their adult counterparts and all of the nutrients that would be used to grow the mature veggie or herb are all packed within one little stem.
  • Are microgreens healthy?
Absolutely! Studies have shown that microgreens can have nutrient levels up to 40 times higher than their mature counterpart. They are contain various antioxidants, minerals, vitamins and phytonutrients.
  • Do microgreens grow back after they're cut?
Typically, no. Microgreens are harvested at a very young age, just above the soil line. This process removes the stem and leaves, leaving behind only the root system in the growing medium, which does not support the capability to regrow new shoots.
